Posted 05/16/08
Hi Everyone, this Saturday catch me at the BIG May Daze Event around 4pm, but I will be there earlier to help set up, see you there, then Sunday catch me at the Robbin LeFevre Run, then onto Fox Crossing for the blues. Below you will find that Alan passed on from this life to another, God's Speed my Friend, my prayers go out to Jeannette and Jeff, family and friends, that he is in a better place, he will ride with the many every day with me...marion As most of you have heard by now, our own Charlie McGraw and Judy went down, it was a trying few days with Judy up at Shands, but she is home now, so pray for a quick recovery for Judy.

FOR SALE: very CLEAN, Harley Davidson FLH, 10k Alan Hill is under siege with an inoperable melanoma on his liver and needs to liquidate his motorcycle to help make ends meet. He has a pile of hospital bills, is out of work and now bedridden in the care of hospice at home. This previously loved motorcycle came into his life in 1984 when he still lived in Miami. He has done several facelifts over the years and the machine is in fully restored condition at the moment, with 2,500 or less miles on a very nice rebuild that started at the frame. I saw it going back together, the powder coat on the frame is so thick and so clean that it looks ceramic. This last major rebuild included a big bore kit but modifications held to a minimum with only slightly oversized heads, stock type cams. It is 88ci now and included new pistons and cylinder heads made in the USA. Less than 2500 miles on this new engine. The carburetor was also switched to constant velocity carburetor and provides excellent midrange power. Thinking this is attached to what is probably a 4.5 gallon gas tank. This build also includes a new clutch, new plates and new pressure springs. All new Miller bearings; front & rear axle bearings, & steering head bearings This machine sports an electronic ignition and a lot of detail. Socket head screws were used everywhere they could be; stainless – easy to clean This build also included a new primary chain/front; new front primary sprocket and a new secondary chain. This machine sports good tires and a nice and very accommodating king/queen seat and the battery is about a year old. The frame was powdercoated by Rusty at Southern Powdercoating, jam-up job, The sheet metal/tanks were painted by Crazy Chris, $10,000.00 call Jeanette, 352-622-3473 Jhill92254@aol.com.
Just in from Jeff, Our Brother, Alan Hill passed away earlier this evening. Tonight, he finally rests in peace. Thanks to John Bearzi / Seminole, Bob Farris / Forest, Dennis Maples, Danny Ferguson / Leesburg for responding to the search for a sidecar.Special thanks to the Vintage Chapter/Debi Alameda for efforts in trying to make it all come together. I am indebted to Vice-President Brandon Shipler for loaning me the Enterprise in an effort to get Alan out in the wind one last time. It did not end up working out, but it means a lot to have been prepared and in the position to have been able to accommodate that. I can think of no words to properly express the gratitude for your consideration in this matter.I had not located a ride at the time, so Friday after work, I did get Alan out of the bed and into the truck as they said he could eat anything he wanted or asked for. The low potassium-this-or –that diet no longer had to be followed. We shared dinner in a parking lot and then he wanted to make a run to Bruster’s for ice cream. At 9:30 Saturday evening over a piece of pizza, he was obviously absolutely fatigued from holding himself up in the truck the previous day. He did declare he was ready to ride that motorcycle we could get the next day. Unfortunately, when I got it there Sunday morning around 11, he was simply not up for it. We tried again that evening but he was barely conscious. The ride that day ended up only being in his honor, I was simply too late, he was slipping hard every day.Alan was particularly touched by the speed and skill in which Randy Wade made ramps to get a wheelchair up the front steps and up thru a step-up in the interior of the house. Thanks Randy, I am not sure you know how many times I heard about that. My thanks also to Alan’s wife, Jeanette, for toughing it out the past several weeks and honoring his wishes to spend his last days at home. I know that meant a great deal to him and it is definitely no easy task just struggling with the physical care of end stage patients at home. Most days she had to accomplish all of those related tasks on her own and ended up hurting herself in the process. It is not clear if she could have actually made it another day. I did little more than go by and check on him after work and just those daily snippets I found exhausting even just sitting there. I kept waiting for him to get up or start talking again. Mentally to have to watch your partner deteriorate day by day is by far the most difficult part of that chore and my hat is off to her for carrying out that charge.

Saturday, June 21st, We have a little girl needing some much needed support, we are the Blue Knights Chapter XXIII in St. Augustine, Florida. We as a club participate in many charity rides every year to show our support, some rides are redundant but the end result is the same as they serve very good causes that is why we support them. Occasionally, there comes a year where the young, the undeserved and the unexpected comes along...we always hope that it is not one of our own but we still do not have any control over it. On June 21st we are riding for Madyson Darner, an 8 year old that has an inoperable brain tumor and going through extensive chemotherapy treatments. Please help and show your support to Madyson, this will be a family event as well with all of the things that can keep the kids very busy! See flyer below for details...If you have any questions or would like to show the desire to pitch in and and help, please e-mail us at info.blueknights23@gmail.com. Blue Knights Chapter XXIII are in hopes to see you all there and may god bless you and your entire families!

Motorcyclist should be concerned about, it is time we showed up, let everyone know how strong we really are and end the bad image that people keep putting on motorcyclist http://forest.abateflorida.com or floridabiker.com. AND OTHER STUFF-------------------------------------------------------------------------------! Charlie Crist, Governor of the State of Florida, hereby extend greetings and best wishes to all observing May 2008 as Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. For motorists: Look for motorcycles. Watch out at intersections and when making left turns. Motorcycles are everywhere… look twice and save a life. Respect the motorcyclist. Motorcycles are vehicles with the same privileges as any vehicle on the roadway. Give the motorcyclist a full lane of travel. Allow plenty of space. Traffic, wind, weather, and road conditions affect the motorcyclist differently. Leave more following distance, allowing room for the motorcyclist to maneuver and enough time for you to react. Signal your intentions. Always signal before changing lanes. Check blind spots frequently and always check before changing lanes. Sharpen your driving skills. Check your knowledge and habits. Take time to read the Florida Driver's Manual every time you renew your license. A driver refresher course can upgrade your skills and increase your driving enjoyment. Be courteous and respectful. Being courteous, non-aggressive and cooperative can go a long way in reducing crashes.
